A single vineyard wine, soft, plummy and round and, oh so enjoyable, now in its youth. Mid red-crimson hues. Fragrant aromas in black fruits and plums supported by a full kitchen cabinet of spices, chocolate, liquorice and cedary-mocha. Very Barossan in its friendly approach and warmth and the overall effect is a wine of balance, albeit on the richer side. A full, expressive, mouthful of flavour, richly defined and layered with a light savouriness entering the picture mid-palate – a smoked charcuterie note – that impresses. Tannins are ripe and quite plentiful which sets it down well for medium term ageing.

Jeni Port is one of Australia’s top wine communicators. Over the years she has written for most Australian wine magazines and these days calls WinePilot home. She is also a Tasting Panel member on the Halliday Wine Companion. She was named Wine Communicator of the Year and Legend of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival in 2014 and in 2018 Legend of the Vine. She is a founding board member of Australian Women In Wine and is the co-deputy chair of Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards and China’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
