Former Blue Pyrenees Estate chief winemaker, Vincent Gere, works for Remy Martin as its Asia Pacific Director, but his thoughts are never too far away from the Pyrenees. He and his family own Dellys, a vineyard close by his former workplace, Blue Pyrenees Estate. Dellys offers a glimpse into an Australian-French wine mindset, one devoted to bountiful fruit, structure and longevity. The Treetop 2015 shiraz captures the Gere philosophy beautifully: archetypal Pyrenees Shiraz in aroma and flavour, and still tasting downright youthful as an eight-year-old. Brings ripe, sweet fruit in black cherry, plum and blackcurrant together, enhanced by Australian bush scents, including gum leaf – so Pyrenees – with woodsy spice. Oak tannins aren’t shy but well-delivered, fitting in beautifully with the overall richness of the wine. Love the fruit intensity and vitality.
