Dog Ridge Original Plantings Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

From McLaren Vale, always a joy to see wines given the opportunity to develop some complexity and maturity before release. The colour here is a dark garnet with the nose exhibiting notes of smoked meats, chocolate, coffee grinds and black fruits, along with a touch of cocoa powder. There is plenty of maturity on show here. The structure is of a warm climate Cabernet, seamless and with excellent length. There is fine acidity here too and sleek tannins in what is a most attractive red, still with four to six years ahead of it.
