Henschke Hill of Roses 2022

Share

From a single block of 33-year-old Shiraz on Henschke’s Hill of Grace Vineyard in the Eden Valley — farmed organically and biodynamically — and aged twenty months in seasoned French oak hogsheads before bottling. Earth and exotic spice on the nose — star anise, black pepper, delicate clove and plum — with a sweet push to the fruit of plum and raspberry. Integrated spice carries to the palate, where firm, fine-grained tannins sprawl through the finish. The younger sibling to Hill of Grace shows class and considerable promise — there’s real depth here, and a sense that the wine is only beginning to reveal itself. It earns its place at the table entirely on its own terms.
