Hewitson The Ancients Shiraz 2019

Share

I remember first coming across Hewitson almost twenty years ago. The wines stood out for their straight up, honest style. There were no tricks, just good old fashioned generosity of flavour, and nothing has changed. Made from a single vineyard in Rowland Flat, The Ancients is a bold and balanced expression of the Barossa – blackberry and mulberry fruits, with savoury baked earth tones. There are spicy notes too which build as it sits in the glass. More mid-weight than full, it delivers generous yet supple dark fruits in the mouth as it drives through to a reasonably long finish. You could keep it for a little while but why would you bother when it is drinking so well now.
