Jim Brand Yates Coonawarra Cabernet 2018

The wines from Coonawarra are often known for their delicacy but this is no shy red from the South-Eastern corner of South Australia. It is a big and bold crowd pleaser of a wine.

Named after third generation winemaker Jim Brand, it begins with piercing aromas that could only ever be Coonawarra. Choc mint, fruit pastille and blackcurrant with a cedary edge, and it hints at what is coming on the palate – a freight train of fruit on a dry and bright palate but it also has a touch of elegance about it. Under the fruit is a firm structure of spicy oak and tannins that drive a long and sinewy finish. A bit of a brumby at the moment that needs a little time to settle but has great local personality and ageing potential.
