Kavel Estate Destiny Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre 2018

Ticks all the Barossa red wine boxes that many of us want and expect. Dark, ripe fruits aplenty in bramble and blackberry which are more than matched by a cinnamon, aniseed and clove spiciness. Spliced in between is attractive chocolatey, dusty oak. Full fruited, it shows balanced oak, generous and warm with texture and good length. Eschews the traditional GSM recipe promoting Shiraz into first place and it works well with less confection notes all round and more spice. It’s a good call.
