Kilikanoon Baudinet Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2019

Share

A top tier GSM sourced from one of the Clare Valley’s highest vineyards. A blend of Grenache (53%), Shiraz (35%) and Mataro (12%), the three cool amigos are clearly enjoying each other’s company here. Together they bring brightness and purity which contrasts nicely with an impressive depth of flavour. The result is all class and elegance. Aromas cover a lot of ground, from red fruits through to darker black cherry and blackberry, pepper, clove and earth. Sits seamlessly in the mouth, every niche covered. The palate wields fine tannins with impressive style, elevating the peppery aromatics, the punchy maraschino cherry notes, not to mention the discreet savouriness. The choc-vanillin oak is particularly nicely placed, intuitive almost, simply matching harmoniously with the wine. We used to treat GSM as simply a nice everyday kind of wine. No more.
