Kilikanoon Baudinet Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2022

A classic case of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. The fruit comes from throughout Clare, and the aim has been to gently coax it through from ferment to maturation. As a result, it got 15 months in both large format and hogsheads, with just 7% new. Light red jubey colour with a hint of crimson hue, and the nose captures a mix of bright red fruits, ironstone, dark plum and blackberry, as you would expect from this classic combination. The palate is deeply concentrated, but effortlessly expressed, with fine tannins, gentle oak persuasion, and supple, sweet fruit, balanced with a slightly savoury, dried herb finish. This is plush and delicious.
