Mount Langi Ghiran Talus Shiraz 2018

Share

Only the second vintage of the Talus Shiraz, so quite a new wine from Langi here. I tasted it alongside their more expensive shiraz – the Mast and the Langi – and the Talus more than held its own. Right now, it was my pick with the others needing a couple more years to jump ahead. It has a delicious combination of raw, powerful yet understated fruits – dark cherry and blackberry with wafts of granite, white pepper and roasted meats giving a distinctly savoury feel. The palate displays more red fruits – cherry and cranberry plus meaty spice with sinewy tannins melting away before a seamless finish. It’s a beautifully composed and reserved Victorian Shiraz, delivering more alluring savoury nuances with time in the glass.
