O’Leary Walker Clare Valley Polish Hill River Armagh Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

The fruit for this fine Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from two vineyards, the Doctors Block in the Polish Hill River region and the Armagh Vineyard, with its 50-year-old vines. Maturation was in French oak for two years, 25% of it new. Dark maroon hue, this is a most refined style with notes of blackberries, chocolate, coffee beans, blueberries, spices, dried herbs, aniseed, cloves, graphite and tobacco leaves. There is a savouriness which runs the length, a slight edginess, but there is still serious power here, right through the fine, chalky tannins. A wine with very good length, this will drink beautifully for the next ten to twelve years.
