Plum and black pepper intermingle on first look before subtle menthol, raspberry, black cherry and allusions of grilled game meat. Some woody spice with air complimenting the pepper tone. The palate is juicy and primary with a sluice of plum and raspberry fruit at the fore with a good lick of pepper spice cutting through. A subtle, cooling menthol tone appears again before some fine-but-firm grainy tannins take hold and draw it to solid length. It’s a little nervy and febrile to start – unsurprising given its youth – but with time to relax in the glass this lands as an enjoyable cool-climate expression at a friendly price point.
