Quilty & Gransden Shiraz 2018

Dense dark blackberry coulis and licorice erupt from the glass. There’s dark, cocoa-rich Black Forest cake and freshly picked Provençal herbs. On the palate it’s silky and mouthfilling. Concentrated and remarkably complex, especially at this price point, it is more savoury to taste with hints of pepper and charcuterie. Still lots of lovely berries but they’re spicy like cherries served with duck. Slightly grainy tannins and a tang of raspberry acidity complete the picture. Pair with a scotch fillet and black peppercorn sauce – don’t forget a hefty side of twice cooked spuds.
