Seppelt St Peters 2023

Despite the difficult vintage conditions (lots of rain and low temperatures), there are no jagged or faulty edges to this wine: it is simply marvellous. The colour is dense ruby with a purple hue throughout and the aromas leap from the glass. On display are some lovely notes of plum, blueberry, baking spices, smoke and graphite, which are reflected on the palate, which turns savoury with some air. In the mouth it’s dense and rich, and it needs some time to breathe and some food with oomph to truly appreciate all its qualities. With a bit of patience, I believe it will get even better than it already is.
