Ripe spiced plum, bay leaf, cured meat, mulberry and blackberry lead the aromas. A swirl of the glass unlocks graphite, mint, milk chocolate, and black pepper. There’s whispers of camphire, too. There’s good intensity to the palate, which is packed with mint chocolate, plum, graphite, mulberry and bay leaf again. The wine’s juicy fruit weight is nicely offset by non-fruit complexity and firm structure in the form of fine gravelly tannins and minty acidity. Good evenness and length through the finish. There’s nice complexity here, in an expression of the blend that harnesses fruit power, oak and herbaceousness nicely.
