Southern Light Vineyards Seven Slopes of Rising Chardonnay 2024

Share

Opens shy before cascading with complexity. Ground cinnamon, white peach, pink grapefruit and green apple lead before a swirl of the glass unlocks Bosc pear, cashew nuts, white flowers and candied ginger. The cashew and ginger tones build with time to bring a lovely balance of fruit and savoury complexity, and the overall result is a gratifyingly complex, balanced and energetic perfume. These traits carry over to the palate, which has a lovely supple texture wrapping around lemon, cashew cream, white peach, mint and fine cedar. A good lick of chalky phenolics picks things up and runs long in conjunction with a firm line of cooling acidity. Smartly made. It takes you on a journey as it unfolds in the glass, and it’s a delicious one.
