This is a marvellous wine that honours the significant contribution of longtime St. Hallett winemaker Stuart Blackwell. It’s from a slightly cooler season, and the result is quite a vibrant, more medium- to full-bodied wine with beautifully expressive red fruit characters. The colour is brilliant and bright with subtle purple hues. The nose has a lovely red berry, slightly blackberry plum note with some sweet vanilla pod balance. On the palate, there’s bright red fruits and a little dark chocolate with understated dried herb influences. It’s smooth and quite velvety with textured tannins just adding the structure to support the long finish. Ultimately, it’s an elegant and most poised expression of the Barossa and St. Hallett.
