This is the first release of a Fumé from this close-planted vineyard, coming from a very cool season, even cooler than the cold and wet 2011 vintage. The conditions suited this Wrattonbully vineyard well for Sauvignon Blanc. Hand-picked with intense bunch thinning to keep yields low and concentrate flavours, the wine was whole bunch pressed and fermented in older 600-litre oak barrels. The result is a beautifully fine structure with oak seamlessly integrated, underpinning quality fruit. Oak influence is evident on the nose but sits harmoniously alongside lighter tropical citrus notes. The palate is minerally, fine, and persistent, extending effortlessly to a very long finish.
