Generous flavours, generous spiciness lives here surrounding attractive, herb-wrapped berries with just a hint of savouriness. Subtle it probably isn’t, but with that big mouthful of flavour it does get you thinking about food matches, maybe BBQ shredded beef – and that’s when the whole Spanish vibe of this wine comes into view. It is a Spanish kind of wine, full of life and down-to-earth generosity. Aromas of earth, dark liquorice, blueberry, cherry, cassis, cocoa, spice, sage and dried herbs. Palate is assertive, plush and juicy, rolling herbs and red liquorice spice and gathers pace – no pun, intended – with ripe fruits in tow and a sense of emerging black olives as it moves on fine tannins towards the finish.
