The Quiver McLaren Vale Grenache by The Group 2019

Pink peppercorns and allspice scented cherry compote leaps from the glass – never tried that combo? You’ll have to trust me that it’s seductive. There’s also a flirty star anise on the palate and more indulgent cherries, that almost stray into maraschino territory. At 15.5% ABV it’s warming, but rather than over-powering food, it invites a hint of spice. I drank it with a roasted cauliflower pasta accented with lemon zest, chilli, capers and lashings of Parmesan – I can’t imagine anything better.
