Vasse Felix Filius Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Share

The Filius range include some of Margaret River’s best value wines that provide exceptional drinking and regional character for a very reasonable price making them great midweek options.

This wine is a proper cabernet sauvignon that will age well with concentrated fruits and good underlying structure. Deeply coloured it starts with vibrant leafy/cedary aromatics well supported by red and blackcurrant fruits plus old oak in the background. The palate is dry and juicy but then with a classically firm cabernet sauvignon backbone showing sinewy tannins that help to draw out a relatively long finish. It is a little angular right now and just needs a year or two to come around or a fillet of beef to match and soften those tannins.
