Woodvale Woodberry Shiraz 2020

The flagship. As with the 2017, the fruit is sourced from the high altitude Netherby Hill vineyard on the western edge of Clare. The wine is an inky, opaque magenta in colour. The aromas move through spices, bay leaves, leather, cloves, mocha and chocolate. Early days but the oak is integrating well and the wine is finely balanced with touches of mulberries emerging on the palate with an appealing richness. It has poise and good focus, through to fine silky tannins and a gentle fade. The wine needs time to show all its glory and will drink well over 6-8 years.
