Plumes of vibrant mulberry leap from the glass before melding with graphite, subtle nori, black pepper, warm gravel, shortbread, black olive, blood plum, blackcurrant and a faint whisper of compost. Cedar is present but purely as seasoning. The palate is cool and elegant, flowing along nicely with blackcurrant, cedar, black olive, gravel and graphite. The tannins are firm but the wine is quite approachable now, with excellent carry through the finish. This puts the graceful southern Margaret River style on show brilliantly and represents this coveted vineyard to a tee — complexity, structure, shape and elegance. A brilliant release.
