Jack Estate Mythology Shiraz 2012

Not often we get to enjoy a wine of such age, which comes from a great region and a superb vintage, and is also cracking value. What is not to love? Under cork. Dark maroon in colour, the nose reveals notes of chocolates, herbs, mocha, spices, black fruits, truffles, bay leaves and just a hint of mint. Good oak integration, as you would expect after all this time, and good intensity throughout. There is still freshness here. The wine is of medium to good length and finishes with fine, sleek tannins, perhaps ever so slightly reminiscent of talc in texture. The palate sees the emergence of notes of coffee grinds, bergamot and warm earth. Surely, this still has a decade of pleasure ahead of it.
