Monchiero Barolo Montanello 2020

Monchiero owns 5% of this Cru (the rest is owned by Tenuta Montanello). On the nose is an explosion of Indian brown spices, potpourri, and wild red berries. The tannins are imposing, and the wine certainly has head and shoulders, but boy, oh boy, how about that finesse and concentration! It is fresh as a daisy, with incredible persistency, savouriness, and shining fruit. What a Barolo! Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until 2025 to try it. In the meantime, you had better start considering an allocation.
