Oliver’s Taranga Vermentino 2022

Apparently, 2022 was the year that Hugo and Kingsley confirmed that Vermentino berries ‘tasted good’. I have no idea who Hugo and Kingsley are but I suspect that they’d enjoy the wine even more (assuming they drink wine). Another variety from Italy, this time especially Sardinia and Corsica. From the Small Batch program, this is a bright, vibrant style of white, fresh and crisp, with no oak influence. An ideal summer lunch wine. A watery sunrise colour here, again the textural aspects are a highlight. Fragrant and delicate (not a word often heard within the shire borders at McLaren Vale), there are florals and lemon zest, grapefruit and lemongrass. Good concentration on the palate, impressive balance and a lingering finish. Drink now for three to four years.
