Otro Vino Margaret River The Italian 2024

Sangiovese and Cabernet were made for each other. Each nestles so comfortably, naturally, into the other bringing a touch of mediterranean-style herbs and sour cherry bite along the way. The brilliant purple intensity is a good start. Dark berry scents and spice follow in dark cherry, plum, wild herbs, thyme, earth and chocolate. A “splash” of Cabernet brings the structure – I reckon there must be a couple of splashes – to wild fermented Sangiovese, and the rest is all about a dry astringent mouthfeel and lasting sour cherry crunch. The Italian is in full charm mode.
