Patrick Wrattonbully Two Blocks Shiraz 2020

Share

This is a dark and brooding wine which illustrates that Shiraz is just as at home in the Coonawarra as Cabernet. After six years in barrel and bottle, it shows a lovely mix of primary, secondary and tertiary characters: fresh blackberry and mulberry, lots of spice and pretty violets, alongside some cedar, stewed fruit, cocoa and dried black fruits. The palate is silky smooth and smoky, with dusty tannins and a medium body and acid, all in balance with the 14% alcohol. Given that it’s been pre-aged by the winery (thanks!) it can be enjoyed now or for at least another five years.
