Penfolds Magill Estate Shiraz 2023

Share

Magill Estate’s evolution is now becoming quite palpable. With each vintage there is more poise, detail and finely nuanced oak. In a cool year like ’23 it may be more obvious, either way, it is welcomed. Bright, ripe fruit aromas on show, stewed plums, black fruits, roasted hazelnut and chocolate with blackstrap liquorice. Texturally smooth, it’s dense in flavour, quite full for Magill that tells of a concentrated richness, albeit tethered to firm tannins. The touch of sweet blueberry and plum and peppery spice makes it entirely approachable now, another note of evolution for the wine maybe?
