Quilty & Gransden Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

What a charmer! Star anise and dense blackberry bushes – both the lush green foliage and the plump juicy berries. There is a nostalgic salty minerality; think sun-warned bitumen melding with sea spray as you carry your haul of fish and chips down the path to the beach. On the palate it’s all about blackcurrant and an earthy savouriness that makes me think of Cabernet from Tuscany – dried herbs and fine, dusty tannins. Pair with slow-cooked lamb shanks in red wine and lashings of creamy polenta.
