Seppeltsfield EC405 Shiraz Mataro 2020

Share

Shiraz and Mataro can blend beautifully together as evidenced by this wine from 2020 with the rich, glossy fruits of western Barossan Shiraz given extra impact through the addition of 34% Mataro. It’s a force of nature with punchy blackberry and tarry aromas plus some meaty and spicy savoury tones, and a dusting of Australian garrigue adding local personality. Then great flavour impact of dark fruits in a firm, muscular package that is still quite tight and focussed but already offering plenty of serious drinking pleasure. Try to keep in the cellar for at least five years to see this wine in full flight.
