The legend returns. It is been plenty of years since we last saw this wine around the traps – a classic old Australian name and an epic vintage. St Hugo is a step back in time to old-fashioned Coonawarra – wines that took 10 years to come around. Well that’s just fine as this wine has had over twenty years in bottle and it is still singing.
The wine is in great condition, still with youthful layers of sweet blackcurrant fruit flavour plus the Hugo minty edge to which are now added some cedar, sandalwood and cigarbox complexity. It is a top wine, in the prime of its life and showcases just how well Cooanwarra can age.
