Luminosa has cemented its spot on the very top branch of Margaret River Chardonnay releases. Consistency has become a by-word. The scent on the ’22 is so Margaret River, sumptuous in visions of yellow – lemon, grapefruit, peach, mango skin, (yellow) apple, quince – with a light sea spray minerality that immediately transports you to the beach. Clean, fresh fruit stars here, layered, intense and meshed with disciplined oak. Opens with a relaxed ease that belies the complexity lurking beneath: the nougat, almond meal texture that supports a free-flowing generosity of citrus, stone fruits, grilled nuts with a grapefruit pithiness and nectarine skin tartness plus clean acidity that also brings an attractive edge. Does Margaret River Chardonnay proud.
