Following on from the classic 2022 vintage, we see a different iteration of the Beginning Chardonnay in 2023. A long cool ’23 season sees the richness of tropical fruits of ’22 replaced by a sustained delicacy, a fine-boned approach, citrus bright with quince, cut apple, Asian pear, baking spices and smart oak. It is no less exciting, just different, which is to be appreciated. Zingy fresh acidity brings a juiciness to the middle palate. Oak – nine months in French oak, 60% new – contributes weight and texture. Tastes so good.
