This is an immediately engaging Pinot Noir, displaying excellent fruit and winemaking skills to maximise its impact. Crushed and destemmed before fermentation in open vats for 22 days before basket pressing. Then the fruit demanded a portion of new oak which in this case was about 25% for 12 months. It strikes immediately with a mix of plum and black cherry on the nose with a slightly rustic forest floor type thing happening. The palate packs some power within its light to medium body with gravelly fine tannins and a nice sustaining acidity providing a long finish. I could not help going back to this wine after every sip.
