A demure opening here, though with a coiled spring feel. Lime sorbet, lemon skin, kumquat, slate, and hints of fuzzy peach skin lead the charge. Some air sees things unfurl a touch, unlocking Thai basil and sweeter pops of citrus blossom, cinnamon poached apple and elderflower. The palate is loaded with textural charm, coating the mouth with sweet citrus blossom, red apple, kumquat and lemonade. It’s round in the mouth with a nice glow thanks to the wine’s 21 grams of residual sugar. But it still holds that same coiled spring tensility shooting through the centre thanks to a charge of electric acidity and firm, chalky phenolics which frame and constrict the mouth through a long and seamless finish. These wines are always imbued with a sense of class and poise – no exception here. Delicious. 145 dozen bottled.
